| Kaori won first prizes in
the Japan Woodwind Competition in 1996, the Japan Wind and Percussion
Competition in 1997 and the 67th Music Competition of Japan in 1998,
and was the youngest winner in the history of these competitions.
She also took second prize in the International Competition Maria
Canals de Barcelona, again as the youngest winner in their history.
