Gladys, from Deepwater, Missouri, wrote a best selling novel in 1943 titled, Come Soon Tomorrow. It is the story of Emmy Norton, an American mezzo soprano, who grew up in Kansas City and debuts as Carmen at the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
