D'Divaz is an eclectic trio of three classically-trained women
with a single distinct and original voice. Playing pianos, synthesizers,
and percussion, and performing vocals, they incorporate Yugoslavian
folk tunes, ambient electronic sounds, driving percussion, and avant
garde performance practices into a fabric of Serbian singing, synthesized
sound gestures, and interlocking drumming patterns that move freely
in and out of the mix. The two pianos are played conventionally
(although with unconventional bravado) and with extended techniques
such as playing the strings with mallets, thereby producing a drum
sound. And all of it results in a music that is completely their
own.
